When I was in elementary school I used to read Laura Ingalls Wilder's series over and over. In one book they had to do that to the crops in the field if the frost came when it wasn't supposed to. It was a race to save the crops. They'd have to put water on every plant to remove the frost before the sun came up or something like that. It's been years since I read those books. I'm sure there are people still doing it by hand in places.

I hear the Citrus Farmers should be okay as long as the temps aren't in the 20's for more than 4 hours in a row. Yikes...it seems like last year there was a cold spell that caused problems for Citrus... Aoquesth do you live near any Citrus Farms?

actually yes we do live near one but it's a little out of the way I think. My mom said what they do to keep the temp. of the fruit the same is (and now I remember seeing them do it) they spray water on the fruit so that when it freezes the water freezes on the orange and it will stay the same temp. until it melts.

It's currently in the 20's here! The cold water pipe in the kitchen froze last night...bummer!

I hope you enjoy the warmer temps today. I know the 60's aren't exactly warm for FL, but it's better than the 20's and 30's!

It was 26 degrees when I left work tonight at 7:50 p.m. I live in Virginia Beach, VA!
Two sets of pipes in our townhouse freeze when it stays in the 20's for more than a couple of days. We have the cupboards open in the bathroom and kitchen. :-) Our front closet door has to stay open all winter. The pipes in the bathroom above it freeze if we don't keep the air in there at 65 degrees F all day and night. My dad who lives in Chesapeake, VA has to turn on a heater in his detached garage to keep the pipes from freezing.

I hear the Citrus Farmers should be okay as long as the temps aren't in the 20's for more than 4 hours in a row. Yikes...it seems like last year there was a cold spell that caused problems for Citrus... Aoquesth do you live near any Citrus Farms? It looks like it's currently 37 deg. F for you, but it's going to get down to 33 deg. F tonight. That is chilly for FL! At least they are expecting it to get to around 65 where you are tomorrow!!! Cheer up!

BTW - Have you started reading Over Sea, Under Stone?

Did you ever get to see "Inkheart?"

Outside here it's 21 deg. F and dropping. We are supposed to bottom out at 16 degrees tonight. Tomorrow's high will be a balmy 46 degrees F. After todays low 30's tomorrow will be fabulous!
