LOL, temperature is relative to what you are used to! It was 25 deg. f when I went to work the other day and it was okay. If it had been windy I wouldn't have been okay with it. :-) You aren't used to the cold! I thought I was going to melt when I went to Orlando and Daytona Beach in July about 10 years ago, lol. I felt like I was going to combust in Phoenix, AZ last August. High temps w/humidity and w/o humity are both really hard on me! In PHX I couldn't believe the residual heat coming off of the place we went to have dinner. Walking up the BBQ place felt like walking into an oven - no kidding around! It was absolutely phenomenol! I bet they take that sort of thing for granted in PHX, but it was a new experience for me! I'm so glad my mom and step dad don't live in PHX. They live about 2 hours away and actually get some snow!

I'm off to run errands and then pick my best friends dad up and take him to Dialysis!

Artery,

Please, please throw some snowballs for me! I can't remember the last time we had enough snow to play in.... I love making snow and ice sculptures. We don't seem to have the same temperatures now. When I was ES, MS and HS the lake behind our house used to freeze over every few years. After about a week of below freezing temps my step dad would start testing the ice for thickness. When it was thick enough we'd play broom hockey or ice skate! It was totally glorious! My step dad is from MN and he always encouraged us to enjoy the cold! It's funny to think he now lives in AZ. :-) He's in the higher elevations, so he can drive less than an hour Flagstaff to ski. Sometimes my mom and step dad drive to nearby state like CO or NM to meet up with family and friends for a ski weekend. Hmmm...they might be doing that soon! They usually go for his birthday and that's 1/29.

About 5 years ago we had 5 or so inches of snow and I had a great time! I was in my mid 30's, but that did not stop me from tipping over to make a snow angel. After the snow angel I made a sea serpent sculpture out of snow and ice. It was so, so much fun! It was cool watching everything slowly melt over a few days as well. The sea serpent looked really cool when it all turned slick with ice.

Oh... for a bit of snow to play in! No, no, no I shall try to remember all of those who are homeless and would have to seek shelter from the temps as well as the snow and be happy! Thank goodness we have a great network of shelters and other places where they can come in out of the cold.

Yikes that is pretty cool for FL! It was 25 when I left for work yesterday and 32 when I drove home. It's supposed to be around 60 tomorrow and then in the 40's all weekend... Go figure!

mamasboy91 I'm sorry to hear your library is outdated... At least you have a Barnes and Noble and there are always online stores to buy from!

I'm sorry to hear you aren't enjoying the cold... On the bright and rather more warm side you do have a home to shelter you from the elements! I always feel sad for the homeless when it starts getting cool in the fall and until it's warm again mid spring... It's just as bad for them in the summer heat. Keep in mind I don't think I thought very much about that sort of thing back in the 80's when I was in MS and HS. I looked at the world through rose colored glasses for the most part until I was about 18.

It sounds as though you were on a pretty tough camping trip! Yikes!!! I can't imagine having a cracked tongue due to extreme cold! When I a few months old and all the way up until I was in college we used to go camping 2 x's a year in the mountains out in the western portion of VA. We always went for the fall color and just after school let out. It was never "cold." We used to go skiiing once or twice a year too, but we usually had to go out of state for that! I hated the cold and loved the skiing until I was in my 20's. I never go skiing anymore as I'm too clumsy and afraid to break a leg!

Aoquesth,
Ack, I am so sorry to hear your library is outdated. I guess it's a good thing you have access to Border's and Barnes and Noble in your city. My husband and I make most of our book purchases online. We usually order from B&N or Border's. Border's and Amazon.com are linked somehow. We also buy books from Amazon.com.

Yeah I go to Boarder down the street and or Barns and Nobles. We live In a big city not too big but still big, but the library is far off and way out dated.

I'm sorry to hear that. I check out 3-4 items a week from my local library. I pick up DVD's as well as PB/HC/CD books every week. Do you have a good local library? We have a fabulous library system, but we are a decent sized city... I have no idea how large a city/county/town you live in! :-) I'm so sorry if you can't check these out from the library... My library system has 3 copies or so of each book available for checkout.
